ALL AGES * GOOD MUSIC * COOL PEOPLE
Remember great music? We do.

Before the monotony of house music, boy bands, and Britney, you could actually hear some good music on the radio. You might even see good videos on MTV (yes, they used to play videos). We play music by bands that were popular when "alternative music" actually meant something, as well as cutting-edge modern bands inspired by their legacy. Yes, we do play a little bit of "electroclash," but we go well beyond just that, and have been doing so since 1996. If you're tired of swallowing the same formula that corporate music has been spooning out for the past few years, and tired of Philadelphia's house music / frat boy club scene...drop by and visit us.

Nocturne
Every Wednesday night, 9pm-2am

Nocturne is The #1 Weekly Party in the City of Philadelphia, as voted by Philadelphia club-goers in the 2001 City Paper Reader's Choice Awards. Nocturne takes place at Shampoo, voted #1 Dance Club in the city in the 2001 City Paper Reader's Choice Awards (and several years previous). Shampoo offers a large, free enclosed parking lot, as well as plenty of space. There are 3 DJs and 3 dancefloors, one of which is located in a special 21+ only area, decorated in gorgeous red velvet with plenty of cushioned seating and two full-service bars. While Nocturne is open to patrons of all ages, you must be 21+ with valid ID to enter the bar area.

Shampoo is located on Willow Street, between 7th and 8th - right across from the Electric Factory. The cover charge for Nocturne is seven dollars.

Fountain Room: Guest DJs some weeks

Some Nocturne parties feature a guest DJ in the fountain room - sometimes a regular DJ from out of town, sometimes an up-and-coming local DJ, and often just a music fan with a good collection who wants to share their tunes. This unique situation gives Nocturne a degree of fluidity that other nights lack, without sacrificing consistency. You might hear music similar to what is being played in our other rooms, or something completely different - black metal, punk, cock rock, glam, hard house, world/dance fusion, -- almost anything is possible.
