How to start
A sealed box of thirty brand-new cards is included in the contest's materials package. The materials package fee is two dollars. Materials packages are available now and can be picked up in person at Digital Ferret CDs or ordered online from IsoTank.com (shipping charge applies to online orders). Materials packages will also be available at Nocturne Wednesdays on February 1st.
Take a look at some of the before and after photos on our site to see how other artists have modified these cards. Your materials pack will include a number of "land" cards; these landscape portraits contain little text and leave you plenty of room to add figures or features. Of course, other cards already contain pictures of objects or people that you can readily modify. In some cases, an alteration does not dramatically change the original art, but "extends" it by painting over the card's layout borders to make it appear that the original artwork extends to the edge of the card.
When you're ready to begin, pick up your materials package (or have it shipped to you). Feel free to use a few cards for practice before you begin working. You may enter as many cards as you like from your box of thirty.
Your finished entries can be returned in person or by mail (carefully packaged!) to Digital Ferret CDs. Be sure your entries are accompanied by a note that contains: your name, phone number, email and the words "These are submissions for the art contest. I have read and understand the rules." It's that easy!
